In our hyper-connected world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the constant barrage of information, advertisements, and the relentless urge to scroll through social media. I reached a point where I craved a simpler life—one where I could fill my time with meaningful activities rather than mindless scrolling. Instead of just setting boundaries and trying to build discipline, I decided to remove the problem entirely. Here are some strategies I’ve implemented (and plan to) to cure my digital fatigue and reclaim my time.

1. Deleting Social Media
The first step for me was cutting out social media altogether. The endless scroll and constant comparisons drained my energy and affected my self-esteem. By deleting these apps, I freed myself from the noise and focused on what truly matters.
2. Subscription Services That Add Value
Instead of generic streaming services, I now invest in subscription services that align with my interests—like hobby-based platforms that encourage learning and creativity. This way, I can engage with content that enriches my life instead of filling it with distractions.
I started with a Hooks & Needles Box (because… I honestly really had no idea how to get started with crocheting. They just made it SUPER EASY to get started on this hobby that I have been wanting to start for over a year now).
While I am affiliated with them, I started as just a consumer who honestly fell in love with this subscription service. I’m very intentional with what I’m subscribed to these days, and this one is definitely worth it if you have an interest in this hobby.
3. Returning to Simpler Tech
I know it may sound strange to fight your digital fatigue with different types of tech, but there is a purpose to this. When you use tech where it’s only intended use is not multiple things in one, it feels different, you’re not multitasking or jumping from one thing to the next – “smart devices”.
Not only that, but when you go back or get familiar with this older tech you take back your power of ownership of your favorite things, like music and movies.
I’ve gone back to using an MP3 player and CD/DVD players. This intentional choice helps me curate my media consumption. I only watch and listen to what I truly enjoy, rather than mindlessly scrolling through endless options.
I actually OWN these things, and it’s not determined by a subscription, which brings a fake sense of choice and ownership, in my opinion. In the long run, I am also saving money. Below is my favorite MP3 player and DVD player. Just two devices that are made for intentionality and simplicity!
4. Tackling Daily Chores
Completing daily chores has become a form of mindfulness for me. Each task, no matter how small, contributes to a sense of accomplishment and helps clear my mind. Plus, a tidy space fosters a clearer mindset.

5. Embracing Slow, Intentional Mornings
I’ve shifted my mornings to be more intentional. Instead of diving into my phone, I prioritize my needs—like stretching, enjoying a cup of tea, or journaling. This sets a positive tone for the day ahead.
6. Practicing Digital Detox Days
I’ve started implementing regular digital detox days. On these days, I disconnect from all screens and engage in outdoor activities, reading, or creative projects. It’s amazing how refreshing a break from technology can be!
7. Engaging in Offline Hobbies
Rediscovering offline hobbies has been transformative. Whether it’s painting, gardening, or cooking, engaging in activities that require my full attention allows me to be present and enjoy the process.

8. Finding Happiness in Privacy
Embracing my privacy has been a game-changer. I’ve learned that there’s no need to overshare my life online. Finding joy in the moments that are just for me—without the pressure to post—has brought a sense of freedom and contentment. My life feels richer when I can enjoy experiences without the need for validation or external approval.
9. Re-learning to Slow Down and Become Patient
In a world that constantly encourages speed and efficiency, I’ve made a conscious effort to slow down. This means taking my time with tasks, savoring experiences, and being patient with myself. Whether it’s enjoying a leisurely walk or taking longer to read a book, I’ve found that embracing patience fosters a deeper appreciation for life and reduces the feeling of being rushed.

Digital fatigue can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to define our lives. By simplifying and intentionally curating our digital experiences, we can reclaim our time and energy. Embrace these changes and enjoy the freedom that comes with a more balanced, fulfilling life. It’s all about finding what truly adds value to your life and letting go of what doesn’t.
