My journey actually began in 2016 when I started my first ever blog, and no it was not Think Angel. I sadly gave up on it because I didn’t see growth quickly. I still wonder to this day where I would be had I kept up with it and just learned more about what I should actually be posting, keywords, and Pinterest marketing. Blogging is a long game. My advice? Don’t give up like I did, Blogs are NOT dead.
Whenever someone searches something, more often than not, it will be answered in a blog post. You probably got to this blog post just by searching on Pinterest or by following my link I referred on TikTok/Instagram. Either way, many people search the internet for answers, and you’ll always find yourself on a blog whether you realize it or not. People may not follow blogs like they used to, but people are always being lead to them regardless.
So don’t let anyone stray you away from starting one in 2024, because it is not too late. As long as you have a solution to a searchable problem, people will always find you when you market yourself right.
You will wear many hats as a blogger but if you find yourself wanting to be a blogger vs. an influencer then just start!
Step 1: Choose a Niche You’re Passionate About
Before diving into the technicalities, think about your blog’s niche. What are you passionate about? What topics could you write about consistently? Your passion will drive your blog’s content and help you stay motivated.
Remember, blogging is a long-term commitment, so choose a niche that genuinely interests you. Is it finance, wellness, home improvement, fashion, or home making? If you must, write down all your interests on a piece of paper to help you make this decision then do so. This will help you come up with a domain name which I will bring up later on in the post.
Step 2: Choose the Right Hosting Service – Hostinger
The foundation of your blog lies in the hosting service you choose. Your hosting provider affects your website’s speed, security, and reliability. For those looking to start a blog as a hobby or a potential income source, Hostinger is an excellent hosting provider.
When I started my first blog back in 2016 there wasn’t as much choice as there is today. You do have websites like Squarespace and Wix where you can host and build a website all in one place. It is very tempting since they make it super easy for beginners. However, I don’t recommend these spaces in the long run if you truly want to take control and OWN your blog.
Hosting your website through a provider like Hostinger will give you more control as to how your site runs and how secure it is.
Why Hostinger?
- Speed: A fast-loading website is crucial for user experience and search engine rankings. Hostinger ensures your blog loads quickly, keeping your audience engaged.
- Security: Protect your hard work from online threats with Hostinger’s robust security features, giving you peace of mind.
- Customer Support: As a beginner or even an experienced blogger, you may encounter challenges. Hostinger offers 24/7 customer support to assist you at every step.
- WordPress Integration: Hostinger offers easy one-click WordPress installation, making it user-friendly for bloggers of all levels.

Step 3: Register a Domain Name
Your domain name is your blog’s address on the internet for example mine is (thinkangelcoterie.com). Think of it like a home address.t his spot is reserved for your very own website, and you can build on it. It can also be in .net, or even .blog, but .com is always the classic way to go.
Your domain name should be memorable, relevant to your niche, and reflect your brand. Some bloggers use their name, but if it ever comes down to someone wanting to purchase your blog from you, they may not like that your name is associated with it. Of course, it is totally up to you and what you think is best!
You can register a FREE domain name through Hostinger (depending on the plan you pick) or a domain registrar of your choice if you don’t want to purchase your domain on the same site as your hosting.
Step 4: Install WordPress
With Hostinger, installing WordPress is a breeze. When I signed up they made the process very easy. I chose my plan, picked my domain (because I did get a FREE domain name when I signed up), and connected to WordPress with simple clicks, I was honestly impressed! I remember having to do everything manually back in the day, so I was so happy about the ease of it.
They do have their own website builder like Wix but if you are looking to really make it a professional site, I recommend just taking the plunge and learn WordPress. There are a bunch of helpful Youtube videos, trust me, in the long run you will be glad you did!
Step 5: Customizing Your Blog
WordPress offers a wide range of themes (how your blog looks, colors, etc…) to customize your blog’s appearance, and plugins (social buttons, instagram feeds, Woo Commerce, Yoast SEO, etc…) to customize your blog’s functionality. You can choose a theme that aligns with your niche and personal style. Install essential plugins for SEO (Search Engine Optimization), security, and performance optimization.
I personally purchased the Lexi theme from Code + Coconut! I absolutely love it and it made my blog look so put together. They even made it easy for me to install with their how to guide. I genuinely enjoyed my experience purchasing their theme and I highly recommend them!
Step 6: Create Quality Content Consistently
Content is key in the blogging world. Create high-quality, informative, and engaging posts that resonate with your target audience, because they have questions, and you can provide the answers. Also, quality over quantity is important. Be consistent with your posting schedule, as regular updates can help grow your readership and page views. I personally try to post 2 times a week.
Tip: Stay away from personal content in the beginning. Your readers don’t know who you are, so they don’t care what your personal morning routine is. They would be more likely to click “10 of The Best Morning Habits to become THAT GIRL”. Be the solution to their questions, and provide helpful advice + resources. This is how you can build trust, and gain a community, especially when you are focused on keywords that people are searching. Keywords here: Best Morning Habits. It’s searchable and clickable!
Step 7: Promote Your Blog
Speaking of keywords, you can’t expect readers to magically find your blog. Focus on your keywords and do your best to get your SEO stronger and stronger. This is how your content will be searchable. Promote your content through social media. Pinterest is the best when getting traffic to your site. Pinterest is a search engine, just like Google, but in my opinion it is #1 for bloggers.
Just like you are building trust with your audience, you have to build trust on these platforms that you’re not a spammer or using their platform incorrectly.
Step 8: Monetize Your Blog (If Desired)
If you’re interested in making money from your blog, explore various monetization strategies like affiliate marketing, sponsored posts, selling digital products, or offering online courses that makes sense for your niche. Keep in mind that monetization takes time, so focus on providing value to your audience first.
Starting a blog with Hostinger and WordPress is a fantastic way to pursue your passion, share your knowledge, and potentially earn an income online. Remember, success in blogging requires time, patience, and consistency. Don’t be afraid to start imperfectly; the only way to learn is by doing. So, take the leap, start your blog, and watch your journey unfold.
Your future readers are waiting to hear what you have to say. I hope you received enough information on how to start a blog in 2024. Don’t forget you can get 20% OFF if you’re a first time user of Hostinger with my link, and I’ll see you out there!
